First up, a work in progress: vintage gold birdy Christmas ornament reinvented as a fabulous fascinator!
One of birdy's wings has a little hole, but that lends to the charm. Besides, I have nothing to fix it with and I dare not start taking this bird apart. I did add, tho. The beads on the back (and the "nest") are from a Pier 1 napkin ring I've been saving for years.
These are some more "crazy quilt" earrings. Every so often I make a pair - bright, dangly, and extra colorful! This time there's triceratops charms on them - hurray for my favorite dino!
Action shot! I'm glowing with crafty goodness.
In the late summer, I went on this cobalt blue/bright red kick. I never made anything with those colors that I want to keep, but I did make some merry looking pieces that are sure to find a buyer.
My other summer love was a palette of browns, bones, and shell tones, influenced in no small part by the bone and shell collecting James and I did! Here's the leather and bead strand I made yesterday, and the shell/tuttlebone pendant I made months ago, finally happy together.
This beauty was only a pendant for the longest time, until the delicate strand of silver and brown glass seeds bopped me upside the head yesterday:
The clasp makes it!
This one I'll have trouble selling :) Plastic centerpiece, what I think is a snake or turtle vertebra, and shell and tigereye dangles.
Finally, something from this collection that's less fussy, a simple shell and glass bead pendant on a leather cord.
I'm still not over cobalt, though. This one is a sort-of lariat on a long silk ribbon. I don't think it's quite done - I'm going to add some more fabric bits around the rings to even out the rough edges. The pendant was inspired by a recent Ornamentea tutorial with lovely carefree bunched baubles.
The matching earrings will be ready soon as I order antiqued brass ear hooks.
This is an old, old piece that I had stuck in my scavenger drawer, but never had the heart to take apart. I used to worry it was tacky, but now I think it's pretty cool!
Finally, some odds and ends...the irresistible face of Gobi!
...the Ganesh statue my Sweetie gave me on Christmas!
...and me, very tired from all the beading!
After this, I'm planning a massive destash to make some room in my craftorium. I keep drooling over pictures of Jen Parrish's new studio and I want to use them for inspirations in making my madwoman's workshop a little less mad. That means less unessential clutter, more decor on the walls, and a comfy place to sit. I'll let you know how that one goes!
