I followed the Green Man today,
For a little while.
I snuck along his path,
And kept watch from the corner of my eye.
I took home small mementos,
Tucked now between pages
Days of sun and rain now hidden in my books,
Or in pretty glasses and pots.
He clung to me still in echoes of musk and rot,
In the coolness of shadow, calyx and meristem.
I followed the Green Man today,
But only for a while.
